Note: If you are transitioning from Norton 1.1, we recommend following the steps below between semesters.
Overview
In LTI 1.3 integrations, the LMS platform and tool must exchange security information.
• When you integrate with Norton Learning Tools, you’ll both receive some information from your Norton contact, and send some information back to them.
• This entire exchange must be completed before you test the tool and start using it.
If you have integrated with Norton resources using LTI 1.1, only follow these instructions if there are no courses actively using the LTI 1.1 tool.
If there are, please contact your Norton support specialist for guidance.
Part 1: If you have an LTI 1.1 tool for Norton Digital products, disable it
Before you begin:
1. You’ve discussed the LTI 1.3 integration with a representative from W. W. Norton.
2. A Norton contact has sent you an Initiate login URL for the LTI 1.3 integration.
Note: Only follow these instructions if there are no courses actively using the LTI 1.1 tool. If there are, please contact your Norton support specialist for guidance.
3. In your Site Administration tools, go to Manage Tools and then click the link for “Manage preconfigured tools.”
4. Find the LTI 1.1 Norton tool in the list of Active tools.
5. Under the “Action” column, click the trash can icon to “reject” the tool.
Note: If necessary, you may undo this change by opening the “Rejected” tab and clicking the checkmark icon to reactivate the tool.
Part 2: Register a Tool for W.W. Norton
Using the information that your W.W. Norton contact has sent to you, you’ll be able to configure an external tool for W. W. Norton.
The integration won’t be ready to test or use right away. You’ll need to send the Tool configuration details back to your Norton contact first. They’ll let you know when the integration is complete and ready for you to test.
